Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lima in Peru

MBA in Finance from Virginia Tech

Roberto Flores brings more than 25 years of experience in financial management and leadership roles to Southwest Key Programs. As Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for the planning, implementation, managing and running of Southwest Key’s financial activity, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations. 

Prior to his role at Southwest Key, he was the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer of EngenderHealth. During his tenure, Roberto was instrumental in strengthening the financial health of the organization and bringing an innovative spirit to his work.  He built a strong financial team, dramatically increased financial reserves, negotiated indirect cost rates to guarantee full cost recovery, and secured a healthy pipeline with a diversified donor portfolio and contract mechanisms. He also created and shepherded the internal audit and enterprise risk management department focused on proactively reinforce internal controls and mitigate organizational risks. 

Before EngenderHealth, he was the VP CFO of IMA World Health, where he stabilized the financial health of the organization, implemented a successful financial strategy, cultivated innovation, and executed social impact investments. 

Previous to his tenure at IMA World Health, Roberto spent eight years at Pact Inc. in Washington, D.C., first as the Deputy Director of International Finance in 2009 before taking the role of the Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in 2010 and then interim CFO. 

Roberto also worked for XM Satellite Radio Inc., a publicly traded company, for eight years as Senior Finance Manager where he was able to apply his strong business skills by contributing to the development of the business model and long-term strategy and positioned the company to achieve sustainable revenue growth. 

Roberto holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lima in Peru, and an MBA in Finance from Virginia Tech. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
